APDW 2024: Hands-on Workshop Using Expert Performance Approach and Simulation Based Mastery Learning (SBML)

Nov 20, 2024 • Bali, Indonesia

The Bali Endoscopy Simulation Training (BEST) Course, held during the Asian Pacific Digestive Week on November 20, 2024, utilized the Kern curriculum framework to develop synthetic task trainers for realistic therapeutic procedure training. The program featured six specialized tracks—Bariatric, Colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, EUS, and Nutritional Access—accommodating 160 participants across 40 ergonomically arranged towers, with a 1:4 faculty-to-participant ratio. Participants from 17 countries demonstrated significant skill acquisition in procedures such as obesity balloon placement and bile duct cannulation, with high satisfaction reported for the structured training and feedback-driven learning. The BEST Course sets a new standard for large-scale endoscopy simulation programs, offering a scalable framework for standardized therapeutic endoscopy education to enhance patient care globally.
