Basic Endoscopy Skills Training (BEST) Workshop: Upper GI

The Basic Endoscopy Skills Training (BEST): Upper GI ran in Manila on September 21–22, 2025, with 45 first-year GI fellows.

Grounded in simulation-based mastery learning and deliberate practice, the seven-week pathway combined six weeks of virtual coaching—“bowl-run” tip-deflection drills and scope-handling on the Koken model—with a final, in-person immersion using the Nikko model. The capstone covered standardized upper GI endoscopy, foreign body extraction, stricture management, esophageal variceal ligation, electrosurgery, and endoscopic clipping.
