Program Description:
The Basic Endoscopy Skills Training (BEST) Endoscopy Workshop: Upper GI was held in Singapore in July 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 involving 5 GI fellows each year. The one-week program featured online learning through Canvas LMS, with the first week covering the basics of EGD and an introduction to endoscopic therapy. Participants used homemade "alphabet bowls" to master one-hand endoscopy control techniques and augmented reality with remote coaching for technique improvement.
Assessments included progressive improvement in the time to complete the "alphabet bowls," knowledge-based assessments, technical skills assessments after each module, and a final summary video with reflections at the end of the courses.
